Introduction
Phoenix is one of my most favourite games, and it’s no secret that I adore Centuri games in general - some of the earliest arcade games I played were Phoenix, Pleiades and later on Eagle.
So it’s hugely surprising that I missed this Spectrum conversion of Phoenix, called “Pheenix”. I guess it was just never for sale in my local game shops (was maybe even mail-order only perhaps), I think I eventually picked it up on a magazine cover tape - and it is an excellent conversion! Probably a little more difficult than the arcade, but it has many of the nice little “effects” in it, and plays very well. Which, given it’s for the 16K Spectrum - is amazing!
